Cadence 10ft 6wt with CSM Fly Line

I’ve been really impressed with the Cadence 10ft 6wt. The first thing that stands out is just how well made it feels. The fit and finish are excellent, the matte blank gives it a classy, understated look, and I really like the single-foot guides, the rod feeling light and responsive.

The double-locking reel seat is particularly well designed. It holds the reel rock solid with no hint of movement, even after a full day’s fishing. It’s also nice to see the recommended line weight in both grams and grains printed on the butt section – a thoughtful touch that makes matching lines much easier. Another small detail I appreciate is the hanging loop on the rod sock, which makes storing and drying the rod much more convenient.

When I first started using it, I realised I was trying too hard. Although it cast well, I was putting far too much force into the cast. Once I relaxed and trusted the rod to do the work, everything clicked into place. Less really is more with this rod. Let the blank load properly and the line simply flies out straight and true with very little effort. It’s one of those rods that rewards good timing rather than brute force, and in short, it’s an absolute joy to use.

I bought it primarily for stillwaters and larger rivers, especially on windy days, and it’s proved to be exactly what I was looking for. It has plenty of power when needed but still retains a smooth, enjoyable action.

The matching CSM fly line pairs perfectly with the rod, loading it beautifully and making casting effortless. It also handles a sink-tip lines equally well.

Overall, I’m delighted with it. It’s a high-quality rod that performs well above its price point, and after using this one, I’m very tempted to add the 3wt to the collection.

I've bought a couple of small spey rod from Cadence before and they're excellent. But my most recent purchase, a single handed ten foot three weight really is superb! It's great for casting small dries and wets but it's also been useful for euro nymphing. I've been using it exclusively since I got my hands on it - unreservedly recommended.

I’ve bought 2 rods off of you so far the 10ft-8 weight and the 10ft-6 weight, the 8 weight is nice rod I use it for pulling fry poppers across the surface at Farmoor Reservoir, it’s not too stiff so I don’t get break offs from smash bites, BUT ! the 6 weight is my new favourite rod, easy to cast, beautiful action, light as a feather, perfect for dry fly/nymphs from the bank at Farmoor, a superb rod, you can strike sharply at distance on light tippet and not break off, great rod.
