Stevie Munn is from Belfast County Antrim. He first started fly fishing at around 6 or 7 years of age when his late father George Munn, who was a fanatical and tremendous fly fisher started teaching him how to fly cast and fish for trout and salmon on Irelands wild rivers and loughs. He has been a professional guide and fly fisher for many years for trout, salmon, lough run Dollaghan trout and also Grayling in Norway, that said he will fish for any fish that will take a fly and loves the rich history of fly fishing and angling.

After leaving the shipyard In his mid-20s he began working in the angling sector full time with Dave Havers at many game and country fairs throughout UK and Ireland, giving him and the opportunity to fish many new rivers in England, Scotland and Wales. During this time, he also started working with the late great English rod builder Alan Brown who worked for Bruce and Walker, he spent 3 fantastic years assisting Lennox Fly Rods until Alan sadly passed away. Stevie continued to demonstrate, sell, guide, organise events and teach fly fishing since then, and has worked closely with many teams, including, many years with Hardy, Greys, Partridge/Marryat and three years with Scandinavian giants Guideline, where he helped extend their rod range. Stevie has now joined Cadence, with fantastic people that he worked with in the past and is super excited about this new project.

He has won many fly-fishing competitions though mostly now fishes for pleasure. He has won fly casting competitions including two Accuracy Casting Championships in England in the 1990s and at the CLA game fair 2011 at Blenheim Palace, Stevie helped set a new World record in single hand fly casting which was done for the charity Help the Heroes.

Stevie hosts fishing trips each year for Go Fishing Worldwide to Norway’s wilderness for Trout and Grayling and can help you if you want to fish many of the Game angler’s paradises including Iceland, Norway, North America and Argentina as well as his native Ireland, North and South.

Stevie’s fly patterns have appeared in many angling books over the years. He also writes articles for many angling magazines and has been published in Trout & Salmon, Irish Country Life Magazine, Total Flyfisher, Fly-fishing & Fly Tying and Chasing Silver, to name a few. He has given fly tying and fly-casting demonstrations, at many game and fly fairs over the years, including the World of Fly-Fishing Germany, The CLA Game Fairs England, Angling Ireland, Irish Game Fairs, The Dutch Fly Fair, Rio Grande Fly Fishers TDF Argentina and The British Fly Fair and is the founder of The Irish Fly Fair.

Stevie is enthusiastic about conservation and was a founder member of The Lough Neagh Dollaghan Trust, which helped with the genetic studies carried out by Queens University and a member of, NSN conservation group, which lobbied the Irish and Northern Irish Governments on drift netting. He is available for fly casting lessons and holds top teaching qualifications. APGAI-Ire Master, APGAI and GAIA in Fly Casting, and has a fun simple approach to casting and teaching. Stevie loves fly fishing because it brings him to often to wild, lonely and beautiful places.
